Too Good to Go Redesign
Redesign the Too Good To Go mobile app to improve usability and enhance user satisfaction. The project focused on refining the discovery, reservation, and pick-up experiences to make finding and collecting surprise food bags more intuitive, transparent, and enjoyable.
Understanding the Pain Points
Early user interviews and session recordings revealed several pain points that made the app harder to use than it needed to be. Users frequently mentioned that navigation felt confusing - key actions such as browsing nearby stores, viewing bag details, or checking pickup instructions were scattered across multiple screens. Important information about surprise bags was often incomplete or unclear, leading to hesitation and reduced trust.
Additionally, the pickup and confirmation process lacked transparency. Users were unsure about where to go, how to redeem their bag, or what to expect on arrival. These gaps created unnecessary anxiety and resulted in many users abandoning the process before completing an order.
Visual hierarchy and consistency also emerged as issues. Buttons, icons varied from screen to screen, making it difficult to understand which actions were primary. Overall, the experience required more steps than necessary, slowed decision-making, and reduced user confidence.
By identifying these core pain points, the goal of this redesign became clear: simplify navigation, improve clarity around surprise bags, and create a more predictable and supportive pickup experience.
Redesigning with Intent
We began by breaking down the core user flows and identifying where confusion and friction occurred. This helped us pinpoint moments where users hesitated, lost context, or weren’t sure what to do next. From there, we restructured the navigation to create a clearer path through the app, reduced unnecessary steps, and made key actions easier to find.
A major focus was improving clarity around surprise bags. By surfacing more helpful details, such as item examples, pickup windows, and store reviews. We made the experience feel more transparent and trustworthy. We also refined the visual hierarchy to help users scan information quickly and make more confident choices.
Finally, we redesigned the pickup and confirmation flow to feel more guided and predictable. Clearer instructions, simplified layouts, and consistent patterns reduced uncertainty and created a smoother journey from browsing to pickup.
In Conclusion
The Too Good To Go redesign wasn’t just about updating the interface, it was about creating a clearer, more supportive journey for users at every step. By identifying real pain points in navigation, information clarity, and the pickup process, we focused on improvements that made the experience feel simpler, more trustworthy, and easier to follow.
Through clearer layouts, more transparent bag details, and a more guided pickup flow, we transformed a confusing experience into one that helps users feel confident from start to finish. This project reinforced how thoughtful design can reduce friction, build trust, and make everyday interactions more enjoyable.
